Small Changes. Big Impact.

The biggest improvements are not always the result of major changes.

More often, they come from refining the small decisions we make every day as instructors.

The questions we ask. The way we listen. What we choose to focus on. When we intervene. How we respond.

Micro Refinement has been designed to help instructors identify and improve those small details that can have a significant impact on learning.

Why Micro Refinement?

As instructors, it is easy to fall into routines.

We develop habits, approaches and ways of working that become automatic. Some help us. Some may be limiting our effectiveness without us even realising it.

Micro Refinement encourages you to pause, reflect and take a closer look at your own practice.

Not through major changes, but through small, manageable refinements that can be applied immediately within your lessons.

What You’ll Explore

  • Observation and what you may be missing
  • How interpretation influences your decisions
  • The importance of timing
  • Factors that influence learner behaviour
  • Decision making during lessons
  • Practical ways to refine your instructional approach

Each refinement is designed to encourage reflection, discussion and practical application.

How It Works

The programme consists of 30 refinements released over 60 days.

Each refinement focuses on a specific aspect of instructional practice and includes supporting content, reflection opportunities and practical actions to apply within your lessons.

The drip-fed structure allows time to implement each refinement before moving on to the next.

Who Is It For?

Micro Refinement is suitable for:

  • PDIs preparing for Part 3
  • ADIs developing for a Standards Check
  • Instructor trainers supporting others
  • Any instructor committed to continuous improvement

Refine Your Practice

Professional development is not always about learning something new.

Sometimes it is about seeing something familiar differently.

Micro Refinement is designed to help you look more closely, think more deeply and make small adjustments that can have a lasting impact on your instruction.
